An update following Monday’s Parish Council meeting (16th September 2024). Parish Councillors passed all the motions within the pump track item. Several had amendments for which I do not have details for until the Council’s Clerk produces the official minutes; however, the broad picture is this.
A specified reserve created for the provision of a skate park in Histon & Impington that has been with the Parish Council since 2015 has been renamed to Skate Park/Pump Track Provision. This additionally allows consideration of its use for provision of a pump track.
The Parish Council agreed to undertake its own feasibility studies and due diligence. In addition, to open dialogue with landowners and work closely with Pump Track Trustees to produce initial designs with a view to full consultation with residents on the Manor Park and Homefield Park locations. These locations as recommended by the conclusions in our report. With an amendment to additionally include a feasibility study of the Recreation Ground.
Agreement to a delegation for members of the Parish Council to make considered use of the available funds (up to, but not exceeding £15k of the specified reserve) to provide the data and initial designs required to take the proposals to public consultation. Finally, a commitment to take the results to resident consultation and a public meeting.
The Pump Track Charity trustees welcomes the Parish Council’s commitment to work collaboratively with us to ensure the initial designs are in line with our vision. We are also extremely pleased to see a commitment from the Parish Council to engage with the community on this project. This has been at the heart of our approach since forming a charity to advocate for a pump track within Histon and Impington.
There are clearly many details to discuss and work on over the coming months; however, the trustees are hopeful that this is the start of a new and exciting chapter in the project. Where we can develop a positive vision for what a pump track within Histon and Impington could be. Where we can work to address concerns and risks raised both in our survey and within the Parish Council’s meeting held 16th September 2024.
