The Charity Trustees have become aware of leaflets delivered to village residents over the weekend on the subject of the Pump Track. They call for residents to attend the Monday 16th June Full Council meeting to prevent the “green light feasibility studies and construction plans on Manor Park Meadow and Homefield Park”. We have conversed with the Parish Council and been assured this is incorrect. There is no item about the Pump Track on the Monday 16th June agenda.
The request from Histon & Impington Pump Track Charity remains as agreed at the September Full Council; assistance from the Parish Council to investigate sites owned or leased by the Parish Council. The Charity’s recommendation was to investigate Homefield Park and Manor Park for their suitability to add a track. The Council chose to additionally add the Recreation Ground into this consideration. We hope these investigations will complete in due course to allow further detailed design and consultation if favourable, or indeed ruling them out of consideration if not.
Meanwhile, the Charity continues to investigate non-Parish Council locations such as Barrel Field, Buxhal Farm and Bypass Farm. We are working with County Council officers to bring a Pump Track workshop to the village early in the next academic year. Also, we have accepted the concerns raised by Histon & Impington Locals for the Environment, committing to a new resident survey to recheck data, evaluation and conclusions from our initial report.
The charity will continue to work within the democratic process to advocate for a pump track within Histon and Impington villages and remain committed to working together with anyone who wishes to do so in a collaborative and positive manner.
