The Histon & Impington Pump Track Charity is aware of a Change.org petition run by Histon & Impington Locals for the Environment regarding feasibility studies for a pump track.
Our position with Histon & Impington Parish Council remains as agreed at the September 2024 Full Council meeting. We requested the Council’s assistance in exploring potential locations for a pump track on land either owned or leased by the Parish. Specifically, we recommended investigating Homefield Park and Manor Park for their suitability.
At that time, the Recreation Ground was excluded from our proposal due to concerns about potential impacts on existing sports facilities. However, the Parish Council passed an amendment to include the Recreation Ground as an additional site for investigation.

We fully support a thorough site assessment and look forward to seeing the outcomes of these investigations. These findings are essential to progressing towards a detailed design phase and wider community consultation—if a site is found to be viable—or ruling out unsuitable options. Unfortunately, to date, we have received no further updates or information from the Parish Council regarding progress on these evaluations.
We also acknowledge and welcome the interest shown by the recent Histon & Impington Locals for the Environment petition. Community engagement on this topic is vital. We understand that the Parish Council is weighing up all the options. However, lack of clarity with regard to the Recreation Ground leaves the project in limbo and contributes to public frustration. We believe both organisations want to see a frank and open discussion from our local authorities (Parish, District and County) about achieving a pump track within the villages.
The Pump Track Charity remains committed to fostering open, constructive dialogue with stakeholders. Our goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and community-driven pump track facility to benefit a diverse range of ages and wheeled sports within Histon & Impington. We will continue to engage within the democratic process to advocate for this outcome and welcome collaboration with any individual or group who shares that vision.
