Assessment of the Rec Approved by Council

The Pump Track Charity is pleased to report that both motions relating to the pump track project were passed at Monday’s Full Council Meeting.

The Council approved Terms of Reference for a new Parish Working Group, which will act as a liaison between the Parish Council, the Charity, and community groups—including HILFE and HIGS—and will also support the Council’s communication with local residents on this topic. We welcome this step
towards improving transparency and reducing tension within the community.

The Working Group will be convened by Cllr Sarah Smith, with Cllrs Neil Davies, Marcus Thomassen, Sarah Allen, and Yvonne Murray joining as members. We look forward to working collaboratively with them to deliver a pump track for Histon & Impington.

The Council also agreed to allocate up to £1,000 to engage a specialist contractor to assess possible locations for a pump track on the Recreation Ground and to produce initial design proposals. Following a robust discussion about which areas should be included in the assessment, an amendment—prompted by a suggestion from a member of the public—was approved to consider all areas with due regard for existing uses.

We look forward to reviewing the options report in due course and continuing to engage openly with the community as the project progresses.
